Recreation

The centerpiece of this resort is its 87,000-square-foot aquatic playground with five interconnected pools, spa tubs, swim-through grottos, waterfalls, meandering streams, and a 128-foot water slide with two 270-degree turns and a 23-foot drop into a splash pool. Activities include aqua golf, water hoops, water aerobics, water-slide races, aqua and beach volleyball, and scuba and snorkel lessons (surcharges may apply). Guests can board catamarans (surcharge) on the beach for whale watching, snorkeling, and sunset cruises.

The fitness center offers treadmills, elliptical machines, and stationary bikes with individual TVs; free weights; weight machines; two saunas; and two locker rooms with showers. Guests can take classes at the outdoor yoga studio (surcharge); an in-room yoga program can be accessed through guestroom TVs.

A 2,000-square-foot children’s activity center (surcharge) offers day and evening sessions for children ages 5-12. Activities include swimming, water-slide races, hula dancing, lei making, gecko hunting safaris, coconut painting, net fishing, and sandcastle building.

Across the street are Kaanapali Resort’s two championship golf courses designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and Arthur Jack Snyder. Kapalua’s three golf courses and tennis center are a 15-minute drive away. Hiking, horseback riding, helicopter sightseeing, parasailing, snorkeling on Molokini islet, and day trips to Lanai are other popular Maui excursions.

The resort’s 758 nonsmoking guestrooms in two 11-story towers on Kaanapali Beach feature Heavenly Beds with custom pillowtop mattresses; all-white bedding; triple sheeting; down blankets, comforters, and duvets; and five pillows. Additional amenities include high-speed Internet access (included in resort fee), compact refrigerators, writing desks, and cable TV. Private lanais offer views of the ocean, the aquatic playground, tropical gardens, or West Maui Mountains and Kaanapali Golf Courses. Bathrooms have dual-head showers, curved shower rods, velour bathrobes, oversized Brazilian combed-cotton bath towels, and spa bath toiletries.
