The striking fusion of European and Oriental decor is epitomized by a lobby mixing classic drawing room style with large, modern lamps and Japanese-style benches. The hotel attracts a wealthy, sophisticated clientele seeking an unusual, upscale environment.
Amenity highlights: The hotel’s gourmet restaurant fuses eastern and western cuisines, and summer diners spill into a garden with umbrella-shaded tables. A light menu is served in the 20-meter (66-foot) Long Gallery, and a bar is open all day in the Chinese Room. Wireless Internet access (surcharge; complimentary network cards are offered at the reception desk for a deposit) is available throughout the hotel, and guests receive a discount at a nearby fitness center with a fully equipped gym, sauna, and Turkish bath.
Insider tip: Two blocks from the hotel, the Looier Antiques Center offers a large and eclectic selection of art and antiques. The hundred are open Saturday through Thursday, from late morning through afternoon, and are a magnet for both window shoppers and serious collectors.

Bold and delicate, it is clad in black panels, punctuated with carved oak details and intricate framed prints of classical architecture.
